Local Citizens for a Burnaby Without Big Oil

Mayor Corrigan we call on you to mobilize all legal means to halt expansion of the Burnaby Mountain pipeline project.

Why is this important?

Mayor Corrigan, it is your voice along with the elected mayors of BC who can stand for us in politics. Please mobilize city funds in a legal effort to stop this project motivated blindly by profits, a project which is effectively railroading itself through Burnaby. We turn to you to and your team to help us return governance of local soil, water, land and air back to the people.

Thanks to D. Suzuki for helping to put this issue in context. "Corporations, especially those with head offices in some other part of the country or the world care little for the interests of local ecosystems or communities, except in so far as they interfere with the drive to maximize profit for shareholders. They have no obligation to protect local ecosystems or local communities. Their sole goal is to make as much money as they can get away with."

How it will be delivered

We will deliver the petition to the Mayor's office on Christmas Eve, 2014 and invite the media to cover the event.
